A warm welcome awaits from myself (Liz) and Ady, we live on site with our dogs Murphy and Rosie. We’ll show you to your holiday cottage where you’ll find fresh flowers picked from the beautiful gardens and some home-baking waiting for you on the dining table. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk is also supplied. A welcome sheet detailing events happening during your stay will be in the cottage too. So you can enjoy some refreshments whilst you plan your fun-filled days ahead.


Check-in & check-out times

Check in is between 6.00pm and 8.00pm.  If you plan to arrive in the area earlier, there are lots of beautiful places to visit nearby, so you can truly make the most of your time here.

We kindly ask that you check out by 9.30am. As well as giving us time to prepare for the next guests, you can enjoy a leisurely journey home too.

WiFi & Workcations

There’s WiFi available throughout all of the properties, so if you want to stay in touch with the outside world you can. It’s also useful if you are a remote worker and are able to work flexibly around a few days away. Workcations are becoming more and more popular now. What are you waiting for?

With central heating throughout all of the cottages, you’ll be warm and toasty whenever you stay. The bedrooms are individually furnished and all have comfortable beds with 10.5 tog duvets and luxurious white cotton linen. All curtains are handmade and reflect the individual style of each room.

The kitchens are well-equipped so you’ll have everything you’ll need to cater for your friends and family whilst you’re here. There’s an electric oven, gas hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave and toaster as well as glassware, cutlery and crockery.

The lounge areas are comfortably furnished with pine furniture and ample seating options. Plus they are all equipped with a Roberts Bluetooth radio, Smart TV with Netflix and a DVD/CD player, so you can enjoy relaxing evenings if you choose to stay in.

We’re well set up for families and children are always welcome. There’s a cot and high chair available on request.

All guests can use our shared laundry facilities which include an automatic washer/dryer, indoor drying racks, and an outside clothes line. There is no charge for the laundry facilities, however we do ask for a local charitable donation of £2 per wash and £3 per tumble dry.


Parking & secure storage

All the cottages have their own access and ample parking, some under cover. There is a lockable storage area for cycles and golf clubs or fishing equipment


Cyclists welcome

At Howscales we can provide secure bike storage for 6 bikes. We have lots of fantastic cycling routes nearby, this is a beautiful part of the world to explore.

If you don’t have room in your car to bring your own bikes, we’re delighted that cycle hire is now available for guests at Howscales. Arragon’s Cycle Centre will deliver bikes to your holiday cottage to use throughout your stay. Please contact them direct for details.



Outside space

All of our guests are welcome to use and enjoy everything that the gardens have to offer, whatever the season. BBQ facilities and garden furniture are available if you enjoy cooking in the fresh open air.

There are many quiet corners at Howscales, so feel free to discover your own favourite places to sit back and relax. Enjoy the peace and quiet and take in the breath-taking scenery of the surrounding countryside.

We had a fantastic week staying at Howscales in the Inglewood cottage with our dog. A real home from home, comfortable, cosy and with a great garden with fantastic views! Liz and Adrian are very friendly and welcoming😊We did some of the local walks that were recommended which were beautiful! The Eden Valley is absolutely lovely, very quiet and peaceful, the perfect getaway! We can’t wait to come back to the Eden Valley and Howscales😃

We stayed in Inglewood and oh my it was fantastic. So very clean with all you need to hand. The beds and bedding are fantastic quality and really comfy as are the towels. We have been or tried to visit many times but due to the pandemic had to cancel a couple of times, we have finally managed to return for a two week holiday, what can I say it is a home from home gem we could live here in a heartbeat! Such a cozy cottage, lovely wood burner, fantastic bathroom and a massive garden for our dog!! We love it here beautiful scenery and lovely walks! Would highly recommend. Lovely hosts too!! Just spent New year at this fantastic place, 3 generations and the labradoodle. Stayed in Ravendale immaculate and dog friendly is an understatement. It’s dog paradise with a dog welcome pack, secure land to exercise in and lots of walks to undertake.
